Private Instruction: Taking You to the Next Level
At GMX, we believe that we can all get better at what we do, and that learning new skills is part of fully participating in, and preparing for, great adventures. We have a long-term commitment to providing highly individualized, quality instruction to improve a variety of skills that will ensure you get the most from your outdoor play for a lifetime. If you are a novice backcountry skier, we will help you gain confidence and learn your way. If you are a great skier, we will up your game and make you even better. Want to learn the art of whitewater kayaking? We know how to make the learning curve safe and fun while ensuring you gain a solid foundation of technical skills on the water. We'll design a learning program that takes you from the Rockies to the Himalayas and everywhere in-between. At GMX we pride ourselves on employing the best instructors in the business for our clients – from Olympic skiers to international whitewater legends. All you need is a reasonable level of fitness, a sense of humor, and the desire to learn!
GMX Gap/Leadership Training Programs
GMX’s passion for quality instruction in the outdoors led to the creation of a world-class training program for the next generation of highly-skilled river guides. For the past 5 years, GMX has been training students in its International River Guide Training Program (IRGT) – the most comprehensive river-guide training program in the world. Founded and co-directed by GMX President Gerry Moffatt, IGRT is operated by GMX colleague and program co-director Anthony Eddies-Davies through the Old Vicarage Adventure Center in the U.K.
IRGT is conducted entirely on-site in the heart of the Himalayas - on Nepal’s outstanding rivers - and is the only expedition focused training program to combine advanced outdoor guiding instruction with environmental leadership. IRGT students matriculate with solid outdoor guiding skills, real guiding experience, and most importantly - invaluable leadership and life skills that can be transferred to any setting. IRGT provides the perfect transition for individuals looking to participate in a rigorous and meaningful travel/learning experience prior to university or graduate school, or for those looking to jump-start a career in the adventure travel industry.
